Artist Reception: Handweaving
Meet the artist. Explore her work.
Melissa Hankens’ love of making things is a way of life. She has been weaving for nearly 20 years and is drawn to natural fibers, including linen, hemp, and wool.
In addition to weaving, Melissa can be found sewing, knitting, at the potter’s wheel, woodworking, and learning the basics of bookbinding, among other things.
She lives with her husband and son in Cumberland Center, where, when they aren’t out running or nordic skiing, they are lovingly restoring their c.1929 farmhouse.
